  1. Significance of Telemedicine in the Present World As any provider of medical transcription services knows, telemedicine and remote monitoring of patients are beneficial for the American healthcare system. www.medicaltranscriptionservicecompany.com 918-221-7809 Medical Transcription Services United States

  2. Technology has made it easier for healthcare providers to provide better care for their patients, but it has been by and large restricted to urban areas. However, telemedicine has made it easier for people in the rural areas also to access advanced treatments. It involves medical information exchange from one site to another via electronic communication to improve patients’ health status. Telemedicine provides remote consultation facility and do not require a visit to the doctor. Telemedicine, just as other medical consultations, requires accurate documentation with the help of medical transcription services. It is an effective solution for minimizing unnecessary and expensive emergency room visits. It is an advanced method of providing medical care by using your smartphone, tablet or desktop and with equipment to monitor your blood pressure, sugar, weight, etc. Patients can report all the health information to their physicians and benefit from appropriate treatment right at their homes. But despite these many advantages, a study sponsored by a telemedicine provider found that 82 percent of US consumers do not use this service. This is probably because: ➢US consumers are not using telemedicine because many are not aware that they have the option to chat with their doctors over their phone or via video. ➢Patients have heard that telemedicine apps are expensive and they are unclear whether they can use their health insurance. ➢Doctors who are willing to work with apps are inexperienced or of low quality. In 2016, researchers posing as patients turned to 16 different telemedicine apps to diagnose skin issues. Some online physicians misguided conditions like syphilis, others prescribed wrong medicines, and two sites used doctors who were without license. It was found that apps are misguiding or wrongly diagnosing. ➢In spite of the technological advancement, some patients prefer visiting the doctor instead of audio or video chat. If doctors, insurers and employers inform their patients about the option to use telemedicine, consumers may get over many of their fears. However, getting doctors on board is not easy as many are afraid of liability i.e. they are not sure whether they will get paid or not. Reimbursement issues are still getting resolved. Telemedicine could become more popular in the future with many commercial and government plans encouraging its use in specific circumstances. Big tech companies such as Apple are working with American Well, a telehealth company, for the latter’s heart health study, which would allow participants to get easy access to a doctor’s office if they needed it. Consumers who are using top quality telemedicine apps are also spreading the word about its efficacy with regard to getting prescriptions, an exam or ordering lab tests. www.medicaltranscriptionservicecompany.com 918-221-7809

  3. Telemedicine technology allows patients in remote locations that lack medical services to benefit from quality consultation, monitoring, electronic house calls, and treatments. It also helps to save costs and provide better care in locations where the quality of healthcare is not up to the mark. As any provider of medical transcription services would agree, technologies such as telemedicine and remote monitoring of patients could prove advantageous for the American healthcare system overall. www.medicaltranscriptionservicecompany.com 918-221-7809
