We will describe the definition of bullying and its effects.

  3. Introductory information • Bullying is a serious issue in school. Sometimes it can happens at work places. The Definition of bullying is repeated cruelty, physical or psychological, by a powerful person toward a less powerful person. (Kock, 2014)

  4. Different roles of Bullying • There are very common of bullying; Verbal Bullying, Physical Bullying, Relational Bullying, and Cyber Bullying in schools. • Bully – Person(s) who is bullying. • Victim – Person(s) who is being bullied. • Assistant – Person(s) encouraging the bully. • Reinforcer– Person(s) who stay away and look on from a distance. • Bystander - Person(s) who is in the immediate area of the incident. • Defender – Person(s) who intervene and try to help the victim. • Uninvolved – Person(s) not witnesses or involved in bullying.

Some Common Characteristic between Bully and Victim • Victim • Depression • Suffer from anxiety • Have suicidal ideation • Suffer eating Disorders • Perceive friendship making difficult • Have suffered child abuse • Suffer from psychiatric problems • Come from harsh home environments(2003). • Bully • Depression • Have suicidal ideation • Substance abuse • Suffer eating Disorders • Make friends easy • Have suffered child abuse • Suffer from psychiatric problems • Come from harsh home environments(2003).

Correlation between parenting and bullying • Authoritarian parenting – Strict rules, little control given to child and harsh punishment • Study shows that there is a strong correlations between his style of parenting and students who are bullies. • Extreme parental or high level of parent involvement showed that it increased the likelihood of a child being bullied. • Child of separated or divorce parent (victim and bully) • Child abuse is another factor (victim and bully)

  8. Discussion questions • How many students get bullied everyday? • Does bullying rate decrease?
