New school system GvP school Vocational stream CVQ Academic streamCSEC CCSLC, form 3 CCSLC, form 2 CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
Lower form CCSLC
After Primary school all students enter form 1 of CCSLC • CCSLC stands for Caribbean Certificate of Secondary Level Competence • CCSLC is comparable to the Dutch “onderbouw” CCSLC, form 3 CCSLC, form 2 CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
The standard duration of CCSLC is 3 years • Students generally finish CCSLC at the age of 15 • Students receive a certificate after successfully completing their mandatory subjects CCSLC, form 3 AGE 15 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years age 15 CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
After the lower form the vocational students proceed to the vocational stream, called CVQ • CVQ stands for Caribbean Vocational Qualification Vocational stream CVQ CCSLC, form 3 AGE 15 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
The vocational programme at the GvP School includes CVQ 1 + CVQ 2 • CVQ is a modular system. To graduate, students must finish a number of modules • They can finish the modules in their own pace • Students on average finish CVQ at the age of 17. Vocational stream CVQ 1 and 2 2 years CCSLC, form 3 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
Students who finish CVQ 2 at the GvP school can choose from 4 possibilities:
1. Enter the labour market After completing CVQ 2 students will have all the necessary skills to become an unsupervised worker, who can start his own business Labour market Vocational stream CVQ 2 years CCSLC, form 3 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
2. Proceed with CVQ 3 in St. Maarten or elsewhere in the Caribbean region. CVQ 3 Vocational stream CVQ 2 years Age 17 CCSLC, form 3 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
3. Complete the Academic CSEC stream at the GvP schoolIn the CVQ system students can choose to do their strong subjects on a CSEC level. So those who proceed with CSEC can complete the CSEC programme relatively fast Academic streamCSEC Vocational stream CVQ 2 yearsAge 17 CCSLC, form 3 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
4. Stream into MBO in Holland or on Bonaire. This can be mbo 2 or 3, depending on: • - the student’s commmand of Dutch • the entry requirements of the mbo school • and on the students’ results • A sufficient command of Dutch is a must for this pathway mbo4 2 or 3 years mbo (2 and)/or 3 Vocational stream CVQ 2 years CCSLC, form 3 Lower form – CCSLC CCSLC, form 2 3 years CCSLC, form 1 Primary school
