  2. History of Triage- “sort” • Started in the military • Adopted by civilian EMS • Changed and revised over the last 30+ years • Do the greatest good for the largest number of people.

  3. Purpose/Objectives of Triage • Rapidly identify life-threatening injuries • Prioritize based on severity • Provide immediate treatment that can change a patient’s category (red to green)

  4. Triage Catergories • Walking wounded/minor (green) • Delayed (yellow) • Immediate (red) • Deceased/expectant (black) • Expectant (MUCC Triage) (blue or gray)
