Visits to Schools • From 18th 2010 October to 24thRevuca Slovakia • From 28th Feb – 5th March 2011 in Turkey Chanakkale • From 9th – 14th April 2011 in Poland Lapy • From 25th – 30th September 2011 in Germany Freising • From 12th – 17th December 2011 Spain Getafe • From 16th to 22nd February 2012 Italy Putignano • From 24th to 30th April 2012 Greece

  3. Comenius Project Principles • 3 students per school on each trip • (different number only on agreement between the single countries)

  4. Student Ambassador Selection • School invites applications from students who are age 15 + • They must be interested in art and architectural issues • They must be interested in languages and have a working knowledge of English • They must have good social skills including independent research skills and team work • They must have an interest and enthusiasm for other cultures and an ability to appreciate difference

  5. Pre-Hosting Planning • Every effort should be made to match the students with gender, age and interests in mind • A common application form should be used across the project to enable good matching to take place • Students are encouraged to contact their host family/student at least one week before visiting • All students to bring a typical regional gift for the host family

  6. Pre Hosting Planning(cont) • Check and/or bring health insurance • Check passports/ID details are in date • Check all homework/assignments are complete

  7. Hosting Obligations • All students involved in the project must agree to host at least one student from a partner Comenius school • Hosts must provide food and drink for the duration of the stay this should include breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as drinks/snacks for the duration of the stay as well as packet lunches on trip days • All families must make an effort to ensure young people’s safety at all times

  8. Transport Standards • The host school will arrange the transfer from the airport to the host school but will not incur the cost

  9. Visit Arrangements • Host country to distribute a preliminary program for the visit one month in advance, and a detailed program one week before . To include: • Times • Locations • Activities • Avoid arriving early/late for the program

Transport Arrangements • Italy Putignano ( Bari) • Nearest airports Bari/ Brindisi Ryanair, Wizzair, AirBerlin, Carpatair, • Arrive on Thur 16th February 2012 • Departure on Wedn 22nd February 2012 • The school will meet the party at the airport (if not in the night) (no direct public transport available ) taxi costs about 100 euros for four people

  11. Transport Arrangements • Poland • The best airport Warsaw • The visitors will be met at the airport • First day in Warsaw • Then to Lapy by train

  12. Transport Arrangements • Turkey • Best airport is Istanbul Ataturk • Public transport to Chanakkale (aprox 20 euros each)

Food and Drink Standards • Students food and drink will be provided by the host family or school this includes breakfast, lunch and dinner and eventual packet lunches on trip days • Staff food and drink • Welcome Party/Banquet (staff only) and Farewell Feast (National night?) provided by host school eventually including plates of food from the families • All soft and alcholic drinks paid for by individuals

Visits and Trips Standards • The host school will pay for at least a full day trip or two half days and for entrance fees for students • The first day of the project is travel • One day is completely dedicated to sightseeing related to the project • Three days are for working on the project • The last day is for travelling home

  19. Tasks • Complete common application and student details form, by the end of November • All: Logo competition completed by the end of November • Germany, Italy and Turkey to agree a single questionnaire for use at the start of the project?????

  22. Communication • Slovakia: Web.site ready by the middle of December. with an “.eu” address • Italy: Collating information for publishing progress report by the end of January. All schools to provide Tonia with information. • Please all communication and upload of materials on the Yahoo group so that all can see!!

  23. Managing project meetings • The host country will chair project meetings in their own country • The Greek team has been delegated as secretary to record meetings’ action points and agreements. • The host country will be the time-keeper of the meetings and the breaks.

  24. Managing project meetings • The agenda should clarify whether the item is a discussion / a decision / an action point • All action points should be SMART (Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-related) and designate the person responsible
