  8. The Game Flat Track Roller Derby Games consist of two 30 minute periods. Each period consists of a series of 2 minute jams. For each jam there will be five skaters from each team on the track. The object of the game is to assist your jammer in scoring the most points and stop the opposing jammer from scoring. Roller Derby utilizes both offense and defense at the same time in any given jam. Each team has: • 3 Blockers • 1 Pivot • 1 Jammer

  9. The Game Jammer • The main job of the Jammer is to score points. • She scores 1 point for every opposing team member she passes. (No points are scored on the first pass) • Signified by the Star on her helmet cover.

  10. The Game Pivot • The main job of the Pivot is to set the pace of the pack as well as communicate plays to her blockers. • The Pivot is also a blocker. • Signified by the Stripe on her helmet cover.

  11. The Game Blockers • Blockers assist their Jammer in making it through the pack. • Blockers also prevent the opposing Jammer from making it through the pack. • Blockers have excellent multi-tasking skills – they must play offense & defense as well as communicate with each other what the opposing team is playing and where they are on the track.
