Singh, IIT Kanpur (Chairman, IEEE UP Section) has been chosen for “2013 IEEE Educational Activities Board Meritorious Achievement Award in Continuing Education” with the following citation: • “for leadership in creating and delivering training in advanced power systems to practicing • engineers, the academic community, and policy makers”

  4. 2014 R10 Educational Activities (EA) • Vision/Mission: • To enhance educational activities in Region 10 by implementing: • EA Support Fund 2014 • EA Awareness to Sections • 2014 R10 EA Awards • To coordinate between Sections in Region 10 and EAB on the areas of the EA project that EAB supports • Attendance to EAB meeting

Proposed 2014 Projects and Activities (1) • R10 EA Support Fund 2014: • R10 EA partially supports the educational activities related projects in the following areas: • Teacher in Service Program (TISP) • Educational Outreach • Continuing Education • Accreditation • Calls for proposal for the funds Announced : March 1, 2014 Deadline : April 20, 2014 Decision : May 15, 2014

Proposed 2014 Projects and Activities (1) • R10 EA Support Fund 2014: • Requirements of proposal • Maximum support per project not more than USD 500 with at least 50% matching fund from other sources • Following the proposal format • Endorsement from Section EA chair/Section chair – submission through section chair • Project implementation May-November 2014

  9. Proposed 2014 Projects and Activities (3) 3. R10 Educational Activities Award • R10 EA will solicit nomination for R10 EA Award as per the same categories as EAB Award. The nomination will be reviewed by R10 EA committees. The recipients of the award will received certificate from R10 and will be nominated/endorsed by R10 to consider for the EAB Award • Call for nomination is from 1 March-30 March 2014 • Decision 15 April 2014 • Endorsement submission to EAB by 30 April 2014 • http://www.ieee.org/education_careers/education/awards/calls.html

Guideline for nomination process • Visit EAB Award web page to see the description of each award http://www.ieee.org/education_careers/education/awards/index.html • Nominee must be current IEEE member. Self nominations are not accepted. • Fill in R10 Award nomination form • At least 3 to 5 endorsements are needed • Submit the required form to Supavadee.A@chula.ac.th before March 30, 2014

Action to consider from Section Chairs • Proposal Submission R10 EA Support Fund 2013 (by April 20, 2014) • Nomination for R10 EA Awards (by March 30, 2014) • Set up Section EA Chair (for those sections that do not have one) / Update the name of Section EA chair to R10 EA • Express of Interest for TISP Workshop • Proposal Submission to EPICS in IEEE
