TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY TRACHEA It is a cartilaginous & membranous tube 11cm(5 inch) long & 2.5cm(1 inch) in diameter Extend from lower border of cricoid cartilage(C6) to carina(T5) where it bifurcates into right & left main bronchus Trachea moves upward during swallowing, & downward forward during inspiration

TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY The trachea divides into right & left principal (primary) bronchus Separated by a narrow ridge (carina) The principal bronchi give rise to lobar (secondary) bronchi Three lobar bronchi arise from right principal bronchus Two lobar bronchi arise from left principal bronchus

TRACHEOBRONCHIAL FOREIGN BODY ANATOMY Lobar bronchus divides into segmental (tertiary) bronchi and then into bronchopulmonary segment 10 on right side & 8 on left side Bronchiole is formed by further divisions of bronchi Each Bronchiole supplies a lung lobule Lung lobule is the basic unit of lung
