  1. Who am I? • RENEWABLE BY THE WATER CYCLE • no pollution • after building the dam and power plant the resource itself is free

  2. Who am I? • efficient energy source- a little provides a lot of energy • easy to mine and transport • plentiful amount • inexpensive

  3. Who am I? • no pollution • INEXHAUSTIBLE • free source • operating costs of power plants are reasonable ONCE the mirrors and other equipment are installed

  4. Who am I? • Expensive • sinking land • only available in a few places where magma is close to the surface • technological problems with rusting pipes and equipment

  5. Who am I? • takes time to re-grow living things large enough to use for fuel. • Pollutes some • Large amount of land needed to grow crops creating competition for land

  6. Who am I? • LIMITED AMOUNT • pollutes causing acid rain and air smog • causes erosion of land that is mined from • pollutes water during runoff • black lung disease prevalent in workers that mine it • contributes to global warming

  7. Who am I? • few places allow for me to be steady • I don’t happen all the time • expensive to build turbines • requires a lot of space • not able to store energy made from me

  8. Who am I? • RENEWABLE BY WATER CYCLE • Plentiful • burns cleanly • can be transported in existing natural gas lines • I can be used in fuel cells to power cars in the future

  9. Who am I? • can pollute • explosive • very expensive to separate me from water

  10. Who am I? • efficient energy source- a little of me provides a good amount of energy • Can easily be moved from place to place in pipelines or trucks or tanker ships • less expensive than many other forms of energy

  11. Who am I? • dams disrupt animal life • building dams is expensive • not a lot of rivers can support dams and most suitable places have already been used

  12. Who am I? • LIMITED AMOUNT • my spills contaminate and pollute the water environment • pollutes the air when burned • economic/political problems • cost is rising as it becomes more difficult to find me

  13. Who am I? • less pollution than burning coal • RENEWABLE BY REPRODUCTION • reduction of the amount of waste • waste is readily available

  14. Who am I? • expensive to build facilities- lots of mirrors require lots of money • I am not available all the time • storage of me is a problem • not very efficient- takes a lot of me to make a little electricity

  15. Who am I? • LIMITED AMOUNT • Melt downs can put radiation into the environment. • Radioactive waste stays radioactive for hundreds of years. • expensive to build the reactors

  16. Who am I? • LIMITED AMOUNT • leaks are dangerous and explosive • cost is rising as it becomes more difficult to find me

  17. Answers • Hydroelectric • Coal • solar • Geothermal • Biomass • Coal • Wind • Hydrogen • Hydrogen • Oil • Hydroelectric • Oil • Biomass • Solar • Nuclear • Natural gas
