Sustainability and Transition Project(Africa & MEER) Achievements, Challenges and Outlook
Develop & integrate guidance and tools for transition • For ADPs entering or in their final phase • For designing and re-designing ADPs • Build capacities for managing transition at RO, NO and SO level S&T Project - Key Objectives
Integration workshop with SO and RO participation process map & draft guidance • SO training workshop Significant learning on integrating transition steps with organisational processes /flows, terminology • Revised guidance (final review Oct. 22) • Integration and revision of tools, development of new tools (Toolbox available end of September) • Adoption, adaptation and use of tools and processes in LACRO, EARO, Asia, WAR • Regional action steps or plans for capacity building on S&T • Major steps in integration T&S approach with new Baseline & Evaluation guidance (in collaboration with GC and EAR) Major Achievement for FY 12
Delayed start in January, regions and NO had already done their planning • New approval processes for regional and global events leading to further delays and challenges • Global integration learning event: GFO (SDOs) limiting participation in the field testing and training to one representative per region, SOs and additional participants were allowed to meet for 5 days objectives in regard to building capacities for regional teams were not achieved, frustration of participants due to limited involvement and understanding of process • Major staff turnover and restructuring in ROs (WAR, MEER) • Pressure to shorten learning events it becomes challenging to build capacities, go at a pace that allows community members and partners to participate • Focus until mid FY13 has to remain on ADPs entering or in last phase Major Challenges in FY 12
Regional learning events • MEER: Lebanon Evaluation Oct. 23- Nov.3 Redesign April 15-20 • SAR: Zimbabwe Evaluation Nov. 12-17 Redesign Q2 • EAR: Rwanda Evaluation Nov. 12-17 Redesign Q2 (Tanzania Redesign Q2) • WAR: Ghana December 9-18 • Support to SO S&T training events • Continued integration with Baseline and Evaluation guidance • Integration of S&T in LEAP 3 and project models • GTRN – training and registering capable facilitators (NO, RO, SO) • Integrating S&T in Critical Path – GPET: defining process, Global workshop with transition practitioners (NO, RO, SO, GC) • S&T in Fragile Contexts – developing guidance, processes and tools (Collaboration with EAR, MEER, GC, WV UK?) Outlook Major Activities FY 13
Continued integration with project models • Continued: Integrating S&T in Critical Path – Refining processes and tools, capacity building • Continued: S&T in Fragile Contexts – developing guidance, processes and tools (Collaboration with EAR, MEER, GC, WV UK?) • Follow-up capacity building for SOs: Focus S&T in Critical Path and S&T in Fragile Contexts • GTRN: trainers and facilitators for S&T in Critical Path and Fragile Context • Development of training modules e.g.: • S&T as integral elements of Programme Design and Management • Facilitating Participatory DME Processes (Focus could be on the team leaders) Potential extension FY 14
