ASTHO Strategic Map 2010-2012 Strengthen State/Territorial Public Health Effectiveness in Improving Health Outcomes Serve as Collective Voice and “Go To” Resource for S/T Public Health Strengthen State-based Public Health Practice Support S/T Health Official Effectiveness and Success Continuously Increase Flexible, Sustainable ASTHO Resources Continue to Increase ASTHO Effectiveness Provide credible, accessible information on S/T public health Develop SHO meta-leadership capacity Engage new SHOs quickly and alumni strategically Establish philosophy, policy, and plan for financial stability Align ASTHO capabilities and resources with strategic priorities Develop and prioritize policy agenda for S/T public health Engage in strategic workforce development Enhance member trust through engagement and participation Create organizational capacity to implement resource plan Develop and implement strategic communications plan and capability Implement focused advocacy agenda Exceed member needs for best practices, technical assistance, and tools Foster member peer-to-peer and regional interaction Increase Board and member involvement in securing sustainable funding Develop a robust staff development capability Support states with critical advocacy Lead implementation of accreditation standards and measures Identify SHO success factors and implement comprehensive life cycle development Create alignment with public and private funders to achieve mutual goals Make system/process changes to drive integration and collaboration Continue to engage affiliates and partners Engage as a leader in public health practice and systems research Support development of SHO leadership teams Develop performance management system that tracks the strategic plan Strengthen emergency preparedness and response capability Promote equity in health Align the governmental public health enterprise across local, state and federal sectors Improve information generation and management to strengthen decision making Approved December 8, 2009
