  1. ECE 551 – Semester Project Whack-A-Mole! Proposal Presentation Cory Fandrich Matt Laurence

  2. Design Flow

  3. Whack-A-Mole Description • Proposed is a VHDL/Spartan3 implementation of the 1971 Creative Engineering game “Whac-A-Mole". • The player attempts to strike each randomly generated mole (7-seg display) as fast as possible (by pressing buttons). • The random sequence of moles continues until the timer runs out.

  4. Hardware • BASYS Board utilizing XLINIX Spartan3E technology. • Push buttons (hammer) • Switches (level difficulty) • Seven Segment Display (moles) • LEDs (score)

  5. Division of Work • Cory • State machine module • Game timer • Begin game • Startup procedure • Matt • Display • Start up text display • Random mole generator • Scoring • Team • BIST • Pre-synthesis • Post-layout simulation

  6. Sound Play a sound when the mole is struck/missed. Difficulty Levels Add user specific level difficulty based on an initial reaction time test. Peripherals Add peripheral hardware such as a monitor (display) and keyboard (input). Environment Add more moles, modulate scoring, etc. Project Improvements
