What Do DJ’s Play Many genres or styles DJ’s may specialise in garage, drum ‘n’ bass or any style of music They usually include; house, techno, disco, soul and funk Trance music is the most common style played Trance has a strong 4 to the floor beat at about 140bpm. The speed is to match the heart rate of the dancers

  2. Glossary • Break beats: drum patterns, often high tempo, which include a significant amount of syncopation and Polyrhythms • Sound modules: devices that convert MIDI information into audio that can be played through loud speakers

  3. Music Timbres (rhythm section) • Artists have their favoutie sound modules and synthesizers that they use to produce their tracks • The drum track is always produced electronically by something like a Roland TR909 drum machine

  4. Listening: Pump up the Jam (Technotronic) • Technotronic were one of the main bands behind the sub-genre Eurobeat. This was a European form of house music, heavily influenced by Euro synth based pop. • The song was released in 1989 and is considered a dance floor classic
