  2. Cryptosporidium… • Is caused by animal and human waste getting in the water supply. • People with low immune systems can developed life threating illness. • Not a known treatment for it.

  3. How not to get it. • You can keep safe from this by washing your hands, drinking safe clean water, eat safe food, and avoiding contact with infected people or animals

  4. Signs of being infected • Slight fever. • Upset stomach. • Stomach cramps. • Watery diarrhea.

  5. Timing • You will notice signs of swallowing this within 2 to 10 days. • People at risk for this is people who deal with human waste such as day care workers and such.

  6. If… • If you have a good immune system then the best thing to do is to drink lots of liquids and get some sleep. • If you don’t have a good immune system then you might need special treatment from the doctor.

  7. Giardia • It is a parasite • It colonizes and reproduces in the small intestines • The parasite causes giardiasis also known as beaver fever.

  8. Symptoms • Diarrhea • Excess gas • Stomach/abdominal cramps • Headache/Nausea • Loss of appetite • Vomiting

  9. Prevention/Treatment • Better hygiene • Use medication

  10. Shigella • Is a bacteria that is closely related to Salmonella • Only naturally found in humans and apes • Become infected by ingestion of the bacteria • Bacteria causes shigellosis

  11. Symptoms • Diarrhea • Dysentary

  12. Prevention/Treatment • Better hygiene • antibiotics
