  1. The November election will directly impact your student tuition. Proposition 30: “The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act”

  2. CSU Tuition is up more than 300% in past decade. Just this fall, tuition went up again, this time by 9%.

  3. Who wants to reverse that 9% tuitionincrease?

  4. Proposition 30: “The Schools and Local Public Safety Protection Act” Increases income tax on the rich for 7 years Increases the sales tax for 4 years by ¼ percent Generates $8.5 billion in the first year and $5-7 billion each year after. Frees up $5.6 billion for higher ed and other vital programs. For CSU students, it means a 9% tuition refund = $498!

  5. Who wants to pay MORE for their tuition next term?

  6. If Prop 30 DOESN’Tpass… The CSU would get cut by $250 million, and tuition could go up $150. Plus no refund – a $648 increase over last year! If Prop 30 doesn’t pass, the Board of Trustees plans:  Faculty and staff layoffs  Enrollment Cuts  Class elimination Program elimination

  7. If Prop 30 DOESN’Tpass… After Nov 6, either the wealthy will pay more – or students will. Primary education suffers massive cuts. K-12 schools could lose 3 weeks of the school year.

  8. Students have fought for years against fee hikes… 2010 2011 …now students must get out to VOTE to seize the opportunity to lower tuition. 2012

  9. Register to Vote!It’s easy online at: sos.ca.gov So if you’ve never voted before, THIS ELECTION is the time to start!

  10. Mark Your Calendar • Vote-By-Mail Ballots begin arriving: October 9 • The deadline to register is: October 22 • VBM ballots can be mailed in or dropped off anytime before 8pm election night • Election day is: November 6

  11. There’s more you can do • Fill out the card in front of you to stay informed, • Visit the campaign websites, • Make your voice heard at the next Board of Trustees meeting, • Attend an upcoming event!
