  2. Definition Of Church Church is a building used for public, people come to the church to worship or praise God. Church is a community of at least 2 people that believes in Jesus Christ. These people gathers in one place to attend the Mass and pray together with the priest. These people is also the same religion and believes in the same thing and talks about Jesus and his stories. These people praise by reading from the Bible and sing from the “Puji Syukur” Book.

  3. What Is Music? Music is a sentence or lyrics sung with instrument in harmony. Church music is used to express our believe, to accompany the Mass and to praise God in another form of art. In music there is many genres, the Catholic music uses the Gregorian music genre. The Gregorian music genre existed from around 500 – 1,400 A.D.

  5. History Of Gregorian Chant The church Gregorian was made by Latin people in around 500 – 1,400 A.D. since then it was a Catholic tradition to use that song genre. It is mostly in the western parts of Europe, people usually say that the Gregorian music is sacred. People also believed that Pope Gregory I (reigned 590 – 604) codified them during the 6th century. But nobody actually knew what he did. His contribution to the Gregorian music but his name is applied in the song’s name.

  6. Reason To Create Gregorian Chant Gregorian chants are used to worship God, but in a different form of art which is music. They is music because it’s an international form of art and almost everyone can enjoy it. Another reason is to accompany the Mass, if it is just words it would of course turn out to be boring. But music would be more creative, and would lighten up everyone’s spirit. The reason people make this artwork is to express their believes in God in a form of art. Also, they make music to deliver their message to God, they choose music because it is easy to hear and music is easy to understand.

  7. Purpose Of Music To Catholic People The purpose of music to Catholic people is to praise God by singing and by art. The purpose is also to deliver messages about God through music. This important to Catholic people because it is a good way to praise God and to express our beliefs and feelings. Catholic people also feel that it is important because they feel happy when they sing and praise God, an they also enjoy hearing music and songs.

  8. Conclusion Music is a form of art that Church uses to worship and praise God. The lyrics of the Catholic music is filled with stories and worships about God. The Catholic church uses the Gregorian music genre but now there are varieties because of the enculturation, now the music genre is adapting to the environment surrounding us.
