  2. Review of Part One Jesus came to fulfill the Law and the Prophets (Matt 5:17-18) He fulfilled them (Lk 24:44) As He was doing so, He was preaching “glad tidings” (Isa 61:1-2; Lk 4:18-19) He preached the gospel of the kingdom and words of eternal life (Matt 4:23; Jno 12:49-50) Part 2

  6. Jesus Preached A Different Message John 1:17-18; 7:46 • Jesus revealed the Father to mankind, not Moses to the Jews • Jesus (not Moses) provided true manna with His words, John 6:32-35, 51, 63 • If Jesus taught Moses, how is it the Jews knew Moses but did not know Jesus? John 9:28-29 Part 2

  7. Jesus Preached A Superior Message Jno 1:17; Matt 17:5 • Jesus and teachings are superior to and to be preferred over the LOM • “But I say to you,” Matt 5:22, 28, 32…; 7:29 • Not: “But Moses said to you…” • Christ’s words contain eternal life, Jno 6:63, 67-68 (Rom 3:19; Gal 3:22-25) Part 2

Jesus Preached A Superior Message Jno 1:17; Matt 17:5 • If Jesus was teaching LOM, then eternal life was in the Law of Moses, Gal 2:21; 3:21 • But, the words of Jesus are the words of eternal life, Jno 12:49-50 • Therefore, Jesus did not teach Moses! • Moses spoke of Jesus, not the other way around, Jno 5:46-47 Part 2

Apostles Said Jesus Preached Gospel • Jesus preached peace to Israel, Acts 10: 36-37 What peace? • The forgiveness of sins, Acts 13:38-39 • Not from the Law of Moses, Rom 3:20 • Jesus preached peace: Reconciliation of Jews and Gentiles to God “in one body”, Eph 2:14-18 • The church of Christ (not Israel under LOM) • Prophesied in OT; fulfilled in Christ and His gospel, Isa 57:19 (11:6-10) Part 2

Apostles Said Jesus Preached Gospel • Jesus spoke of salvation, Heb 2:1-3 • Not the law of Moses (Rom 3:19-20) • Apostles taught “all things” Jesus taught them, Matt 28:19-20 • The gospel, not the Law of Moses • Why did the Holy Spirit need to bring to their remembrance everything Jesus said if His words have no binding authority today (after the cross)? Jno 14:26 • Already have the LOM, and we are not Jews! Part 2

Were Apostles Ministers of Death or Life? • If MMLJBC belong to the old covenant, then writing them ministered death • But, the ministry of death was written on stones, 2 Cor 3:7 • Did Matthew minister the old covenant after the cross? • Was book of Matthew passing away? (3:7-8) • Did Luke write old and new covenant? Luke 1:1-4; Acts 1:1 Part 2

  13. Were Apostles Ministers of Death or Life? • If MMLJBC belong to the old covenant, then writing them ministered death, then • Jesus preached a ministry of condemnation, 2 Cor 3:9-10 • Jesus preached what was passing away, 3:11 • When Matthew is read, does a veil remain? 3:14-15 • Book of Matthew lifts the veil that remained when the OT was read, 3:14-16 Part 2

  14. “Writing of Requirements” Nailed to Cross • What “writing of requirements” was nailed to the cross? Col 2:14 • A “writing” (not verbal teaching of Jesus) • This is not MMLJBC – they were written decades after the cross • LOM is the “the law of commandments,” Eph 2:14-15 Part 2

  15. If MMLJBC Is Not The Gospel… • Disciples of Christ are not permitted to appeal to the personal words of His Master to authorize His conduct, Lk 6:40 • Personal teachings of Jesus before the cross never apply to men after cross • But, Paul applied them, 1 Cor 7:10; Acts 20:35 • Old covenant contains everlasting life, Jno 12:49-50 (Gal 3:10-11) Part 2

  16. MMLJBC Belongs to New Testament • Dedicated by Christ’s blood and in force today, Heb 9:15-17 • They contain the authority of Christ… Hear Him (Matt 17:5) • We must hear and do the words Jesus spoke, Matt 7:24 • What Jesus taught on MDR applies to all • What Jesus taught on all things applies to all Part 2
