  1. Developing and Understanding Condom Using Skills Module 7: Day 5

  2. Activity A: Condom Line-Up • We are going to demonstrate all the steps involved in putting on a condom by putting a set of condom-use cards in correct order. • Pass out cards and have students stand in order correctly. Review the steps and make sure they are correct.

  3. Condom Line-Up Question • Which steps in this process can involve the female?

  4. Activity C: Barriers to Condom Use- Pros and Cons • What are some PROS to using condoms? • What are some CONS to using condoms? • How can we change these cons to pros?

  5. Activity D: “What to say if my Partner Says…” • Discuss some issues that deal with relationship and trust issues when using condoms and some disease and health issues as well. • Read statements 9a-13b and discuss.

  6. Activity E: Introducing SWAT and Role-Playing Scenarios • Discuss the S.W.A.T posters and charts hanging around the room. • S – Say “NO” to unsafe behavior. • W – Be prepared to explain “Why” you want to be safe • A – Provide “alternatives” • T – “Talk” it out • Have students say as a group the “Say No Effectively” examples. • Review Checklist Poster and make sure students understand what they are looking for during role-play

  7. Role-Play Scenarios • Have students volunteer to read through the “While They’re Out” Scenarios. Both the ineffective and the effective version. Discuss the Checklist and see how it changes from the scenarios. • Repeat the same for “Your Valentine’s Day Gift” scenario. Discuss.
