We need the skeleton to give our body a shape- otherwise a body would be just a mass of skin and muscle.

  • It protect our most important organs- the brain, lungs and heart
  • It allows us to stand up and move around

There are three different types of joints – immovable joints (such as the skull), slightly moveable joints (like the spine) and freely movable joints (e.g. the knee).
