  2. What Happened? • The United States submarine USS Greeneville collided with a Japanese high school training fishing vessel, the Ehime Maru. • USS Greeneville performed an emergency surface for civilian passengers and struck the Ehime Maru.

  3. When and Where? • Happened 9 miles off the southern coast of Oahu, Hawaii. • February 9th, 2001

  4. Damages? • The Ehime Maru sank within minutes, along with killing 9 of its crew. Including 4 high school students. • The Greeneville had only surface tiles sheared off its surface. Cost of repairs were $2 Million.
