Are HFP children adjunctively eligible for WIC?
Number of Healthy Families Children under 5 years of age
There are approximately 145,000 WIC aged children that are being transitioned from HFP to Medi-Cal
We estimate that there approximately 60,000 HFP children already on WIC.
However, this number is probably much higher based on how we collect information in ISIS.
WIC Federal Regulations (7 CFR 246.7)
Adjunct or automatic income eligibility
The State agency shall accept as income-eligible for the Program any applicant who is certified as fully eligible or presumptively eligible pending completion of eligibility for medical assistance under a Title XIX of the Social Security Act program.
When a Healthy Families beneficiary transitions to Medi-Cal, they become adjunctively eligible.
Until they are transitioned into Medi-Cal, you will still need to verify their income.
All Healthy Families beneficiaries should be transitioned to Medi-Cal by December 2013.
New Aid Codes: 5C, 5D, H1, H2, H3, H4, H5

Medi-Cal may be adding new aid codes; if so, we will be notified and will update ISIS immediately
