  4. Pre-Copenhagen Goals • Get our personal stories out in order to show youth engagement in the int’l process • Educate the public about COP and int’l climate policy/negotiations • Impact the US negotiating stance and the Senate climate bill

  5. Pre-Copenhagen Tactics • SustainUS Blog • It’s Getting Hot in Here • Partner Blogs: ClimateProgress, Grist, etc. • LTEs and Op-Eds • Local Interest Stories • Traditional Media hits (days of action) • Videos • Flickr • ...etc., etc., etc.

  6. In Copenhagen Goals • Detail what is actually going on in COP to our networks • Tell Americans how youth positions (strong, binding, just...) aren’t being satisfied by COP negotiations • Inspire American action re: these issues - make this a policy priority domestically

  7. In Copenhagen Tactics • MSM/Trad Media coverage of actions • Blogging • Video Blogging (aka Vlogging) • Tweets • Flickr • Partner Blogs • Grassroots actions @ home coupled w/ actions at COP • “Message of the Day”

  8. Communications Calendar • NOW • Brainstorm your personal interest papers • Brainstorm your networks to MSM • Finalize our messaging and send around • SEPTEMBER • Initial “I’m a part of this cool thing” press release • Schmooze up reporters (calls, emails, etc.) • Media work around fall campaigning (Climate Countdown, etc.) • More to come...
