  2. Programme Purpose & Objectives Reduce the disease burden in Southern Africa by increasing access to affordable, essential medicines. Inception phase: Strengthen SADC capacity and demonstrate the value of a regional approach.

SADC Pharmaceutical Business Plan2007-2013 • Harmonize STGs & EMLs • Rationalize & maximize research & production capacity of generic & African Traditional Meds • Strengthen Regulatory Capacity • Promote Joint Procurement • Regional database of Traditional Meds • Develop & retain competent human resources • Respond to emergency pharma needs • Coordinate implementation of TRIPS flexibilities
