IS THIS PROGRAM FOR ME? • Piedmont College follows the State of Georgia Articulation Model • In order to be eligible you must: • Meet the program’s admission requirements • Meet the program’s general education requirements • Meet testing requirements if applicable • Hold a valid unencumbered Georgia nursing license

  3. WHAT DO I DO FIRST? • The first thing to do is make application to Piedmont College • Go to the Admission’s page on the website and make application online. admissions.piedmont.edu • Make sure to order transcripts to be sent to the Admission’s office for every school you have attended.

  4. THEN WHAT? • Once you receive your letter of acceptance from Piedmont College, go the website for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. • Click on the link for the RN to BSN and complete the application for the program.

  5. BUT I WORK FULL-TIME! • That’s okay….this is a program that is designed for the working nurse. • Most of the nursing courses are hybrid….that means that they meet 2-3 times a semester (on your schedule) and the rest of the time they are online. • NUR 420, Nursing Research is taught live but we work to accommodate your schedule

  6. WHAT ABOUT CLINICAL? • There are some clinical components to the program, but again, we work with your schedule. • There are three clinical courses: • Community • Leadership/Management • Senior Practicum

  7. WHAT ARE THE GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES? • Many of you will have some of these courses already. • They include: • 16 hours laboratory sciences • 3 hours of statistics • 6 hours of foreign language • 6 hours of history OR 3 hours of history and 3 hours of political science

WHAT ARE THE GENERAL EDUCATION COURSES? • Also Included: • 3 hours of college algebra or higher math • 3 hours of public speaking • 3 hours of sociology or anthropology • 3 hours of art, music or theater appreciation • English 101 & 102 • 6 hours of psychology Note: all hours are semester hours

  9. WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ALL OF THESE COURSES? • You may start the nursing program anyway. • You may take these courses concurrently at Piedmont College.

WHAT ARE THE NURSING COURSES? • The first course that you take is NUR 350, Foundations of Professional Nursing • Required nursing courses include: • NUR 324, Issues in Nursing • NUR332 Population focused community nursing • NUR 420 Nursing Research • NUR 451 Leadership and Management • NUR 458 Role Synthesis Practicum

ELECTIVE NURSING CLASSES • All students need to complete two electives: • NUR 323 Health Assessment – must be one of the electives if no formal health assessment course in previous course work. • NUR 441 Evidence Based Practice • NUR 365 Disaster Nursing • NUR 398 Geriatric Nursing • NUR 395 Cross-cultural health

  12. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM? • Each class must be completed in the semester that you begin the course. • You have four years from the time of the first nursing course to complete the program.

WHAT ELSE TO DO I NEED TO KNOW? • You are not fully accepted into the nursing program until you complete a successful background check and drug screen using the agency selected by the School of Nursing and Health Sciences • You must complete your last 30 hours of your program from Piedmont College

  14. WHAT ELSE TO DO I NEED TO KNOW? • You will need to complete the required health form and provide proof of immunizations, current TB test and current CPR card.
