  1. “Not Just another palm Sunday”

  2. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” • As God’s People, We Must Have a Clear Understanding of Jesus’ Atonement for Us (Matthew 26:27-28; 1 John 2:1-3)

  3. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” Matt. 26:27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you,

  4. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

  5. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 1 John 2:1My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

  6. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

  7. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.

  8. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” • We are Barabbas! (Mark 15:6-15)

  9. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” Mark 15:6 Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked.

  10. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 7 And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas.

  11. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 8 And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them.

  12. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 9 And he answered them, saying, “Do you want me to release for you the King of the Jews?”

  13. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 10 For he perceived that it was out of envy that the chief priests had delivered him up.

  14. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 11 But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have him release for them Barabbas instead.

  15. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 12 And Pilate again said to them, “Then what shall I do with the man you call the King of the Jews?”

  16. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 13 And they cried out again, “Crucify him.” 14 And Pilate said to them, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Crucify him.”

  17. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 15 So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.

  18. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” • Jesus’ Public Death on the Cross was Absolutely Necessary! (John 3:14-16; Galatians 6:14)

  19. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” John3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in him may have eternal life.

  20. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

  21. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” Gal. 6:14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

  22. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” • This is not the Gospel of ease and enjoyment to soothe our egos - it is the cross that beckons us to live for God - and why we GLORY in the Old Rugged Cross! And, we must keep it front and center in our lives, families, homes, and church.

  23. “Not Just Another Palm Sunday” “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)
