  2. The Lord's Prayer • Lord's Prayer Hayr Mer Հայր Մեր “One of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray” (Luke 11:1). And Jesus said, “This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father . . .” (Matthew 6:9). • At the core of our spiritual practice as Armenian Christians • At the core of Church Armenian Some Language Facts: • 7 lines • about 50 words long • 25 distinct root words that account for more than 60% of the core of Church Armenian

Text in English In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit (making the sign of the cross)‏ Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. (Said by the Priest) making the sign of the cross Amen. ( = Hebrew for 'so be it')‏
