  7. 40-Page FOA

  8. Industrial Energy Efficiency Grand Challenge • The goal of this FOA is to fund cost-shared development of transformational industrial processes and technologies. A process or technology is transformational if it reduces energy intensity or greenhouse gas emissions by a minimum of 25% while providing a return on investment of 10% or greater. Eligible projects must be associated with the nation's most energy-intensive industries, including: · Petroleum · Food & Beverage · Fabricated Metals · Metal Casting · Informational Technology · Mining · Aluminum · Forest & Paper Products · Cement · Glass · Transportation Equipment · Iron & Steel · Chemicals • This FOA will provide approximately $15 million to fund up to 50 individual awards. DOE anticipates that the awards will range between $100,000 and $300,000. The funding will be issued in five stages over one year, but DOE may select projects to continue for an additional three to four years. Applicants are subject to at least 20% cost-share.

  9. Representative Funding Opportunity Announcements • $15 million for energy efficiency at industrial plants • $24 million for wind energy research • $100 million for demonstration of innovative concepts for beneficial CO2 use • $156 million for combined heat and power systems • $176 million for clean solar • $350 million for geothermal projects • $1 billion for commercial carbon capture and sequestration
