  7. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Physical stress affects your entire being Psalms 77:1-10 ( KJV ) 1    I cried unto God with my voice, even unto God with my voice; and he gave ear unto me. 2    In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. 3    I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah4    Thou holdest mine eyes waking: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. 5    I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

  8. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Physical stress affects your entire being 6    I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. 7    Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be favourable no more? 8    Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? 9    Hath God forgotten to be gracious? hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah10    And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

  21. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Pride Proverbs 16:14-25 ( KJV ) 14The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.  15In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. 16How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! 17The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. 18Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. 19Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

  22. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Pride 20He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. 21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. 22Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly. 23The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. 24Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. 25There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

  32. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Pride • Self-righteous feelings and actions • Cut off the hem of Saul’s robe • 1 Samuel 24:1-22 ( KJV ) 1And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.  2Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.  3And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

  33. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade 4And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily.  5And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt.  6And he said unto his men, The LORD forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the LORD’S anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the LORD.  7So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.  8David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.

  34. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade 9And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men’s words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?  10Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the LORD’S anointed.  11Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.  12The LORD judge between me and thee, and the LORD avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.  13As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.

  35. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade 14After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.  15The LORD therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand. 16And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.  17And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.  18And thou hast showed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the LORD had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.  19For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the LORD reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.

  36. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade 20And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.  21Swear now therefore unto me by the LORD, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father’s house.  22And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.

  41. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • What can we learn? • Pride has ruined many people’s lives • Pride will hurt your relationships with God and others

  42. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • Samuel died

  43. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • Rich man named Nabal – 1 Sam. 25 • 3Now the name of the man was Nabal; and the name of his wife Abigail: and she was a woman of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance: but the man was churlish and evil in his doings; and he was of the house of Caleb.

  44. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • David and men had watched over his flocks • David asked for some food

  45. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • Nabal Rebuffed him • 9And when David’s young men came, they spake to Nabal according to all those words in the name of David, and ceased.  10And Nabal answered David’s servants, and said, Who is David? and who is the son of Jesse? there be many servants now a days that break away every man from his master.  11Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give it unto men, whom I know not whence they be? 12So David’s young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.

  46. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • David became angry • 13And David said unto his men, Gird ye on every man his sword. And they girded on every man his sword; and David also girded on his sword: and there went up after David about four hundred men; and two hundred abode by the stuff.

  47. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Anger Nabal’s wife (Abigail) heard of it and brought food to David 18Then Abigail made haste, and took two hundred loaves, and two bottles of wine, and five sheep ready dressed, and five measures of parched corn, and an hundred clusters of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs, and laid them on asses.  30And it shall come to pass, when the LORD shall have done to my lord according to all the good that he hath spoken concerning thee, and shall have appointed thee ruler over Israel;

  48. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Anger Nabal’s wife (Abigail) heard of it and brought food to David 31That this shall be no grief unto thee, nor offence of heart unto my lord, either that thou hast shed blood causeless, or that my lord hath avenged himself: but when the LORD shall have dealt well with my lord, then remember thine handmaid. 32And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:  33And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

  49. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade Anger David’s anger was abated

  50. Unknown Perils In The Life Of A Renegade • Anger • Nabal found out, had a stroke and ten days later died • 36And Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart was merry within him, for he was very drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.  37But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.  38And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.
