  3. Noncitizens in ACS assigned to legal status • Entered the U.S. before 1982 • Over age 60 at entry • Legal nonimmigrants. Includes students, temporary workers, others who would be counted in surveys, and their families Excludes tourists • Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens • Recipients of public benefits that are restricted to legal residents. Social Security, Medicare, or Medicaid (with exceptions for maternal care and children), SSI, and TANF • Government workers • In or employed by Armed Forces, and veterans • Work in “Legal” occupations
