  2. Creating an Adobe Presentation Rapidly create Flash-based presentations and eLearning courses from PowerPoint • Set Preferences • Add or Edit Audio • Add multimedia • Capture video • Create quizzes and surveys • Customize presentations • Publish to Flash or PDF or Connect Server

  3. Set Preferences 1. 2. 3. • Choose Preferences from the Adobe Presenter menu. • Create a presenter profile.

  4. Record Audio: One Slide at a Time 3. & 4. 1. 2. • Choose Record Audiofrom the Adobe Presenter menu. • Set your microphone recording level. Click OK • If you plan to record one slide at a time, click the red record button to start. Click “Stop recording” when done and then click the “Next” button to record the next slide. • If there are animations on the slide, click Next Animation allows you to time PowerPoint animations to your narration. Record Next slide Play Stop

Record Audio Continuously • To record continuously, uncheck the box for “Record/Play this slide only.” • Hit the red button to begin recording. • To move to the next slide, pause for one second before clicking the “Next Slide.” Wait for one second at the new slide before talking. The one second pause will make sure that your narrations stay intact without being cut short by the slide transition. • Click “Stop recording” when done. • Click the green play button to play back. Click OK to exit.

Edit Audio • To edit the audio, click the Edit button • To select a segment, click and drag the mouse to cover the extra segment and then hit the delete icon. • To insert a segment, single click the insertion point, choose Recording from the Insert menu. • Click the X button from the upper right corner to save and exit 1 2.3.4. Add Multimedia 1. 2. 3. • Choose Insert Swf or Import Video from the Adobe Presenter menu. • Browse for your content using the Insert Flash or Import Video dialog. • The Flash/Video file is inserted / Imported on the slide. • To preview the inserted file, view the presentation in slideshow mode

  8. Capture Video 1. 2.&3. 4. • Choose Capture Video from the Adobe Presenter menu. • Select Attach to slide <Slide #> as <Slide video> or <Sidebar video> • Capture the video using Start Recording and Stop Recording • Click Ok to insert it to the slide or Click to save it to a different file.

Create Quizzes and Surveys 1. 2. 3. • Choose Quiz Manager from the Adobe Presenter menu. • Click Add New Question to add a question or Import Quizzes from your existing presentations created in Adobe Presenter or Articulate • Choose the type of question you would like to create and fill in question properties. • Continue until you have created all questions and click OK in the Quiz Manager. • New slides are added to the presentation for each question you created. • Edit Quizzes for advanced options like pooling, shuffling and branching

Customize Presentations 1. 2. 3. • Choose Presentation Settings from the Adobe Presenter menu. • The Settings tab lets you change the presentation title, add a presentation summary, and select other presentation settings. • Use the Theme Editor to customize the look and feel of the Presentation.

  11. Publish Presentations 1. 2.&3. 4. • Save the file and choose Publish from the Adobe Presenter menu. Keep the file name short and with no spaces. • Confirm presentation settings by looking at the Presentation Information. • Select publish locally to My Computer and make a note of the folder location. By default, the folder is stored inside My Adobe Presentation folder inside My Documents folder • Click Publish. You can select View output after publishing to see the presentation

  12. View Presentation • When you publish, a new folder with the same name as the presentation is created and placed in your My Documents\My Adobe Presentations folder. The new folder contains all of the presentation files, copies of attachments, and any audio, video, and image files that are part of the presentation. Click index.htm to view the presentation. • If you have a large file, it will take a while to publish your presentation. • Your file name will be the folder name which will be part of the web address if you choose to upload the files to a web server so keep the file name short and without spaces or symbols.

Upload the Files to MyWeb from an On-Campus PC • If your file is too large to be uploaded to Blackboard, use MyWeb • From the desktop, double-click the My Storage icon • Double-click My Web folder • Have the MyWeb folder and the published folder inside My Adobe Presentation folder side by side. • Drag the published Presenter folder to an empty spot in MyWeb

Determine the URL • Now you have uploaded the file, let’s open a new web browser to locate the files. • The URL follows the convention:UST domain name/userID/folder_name/file_name • The UST web server domain name is: http://personal.stthomas.edu/userID (UserID is your email login ID) • If the Adobe Presenter is published into a folder titled “moduleone”, add it to the URL, e.g.,http://personal.stthomas.edu/userID/moduleone • Now add the entry point file name which is “index.htm” to the URL. The final URL should be: http://personal.stthomas.edu/userID/moduleone/index.htm

  19. Publish to Blackboard Choose Publish from the Adobe Presenter menu. Keep the file name short and with no spaces. Check the box for “zip package” Click “Publish” button Go to My Adobe Presentation Folder to locate the zipped file. It could be inside the previously published folder if you do not manually change the location.

  20. Create an Item in Blackboard • Login to Blackboard • Locate the learning module to house the PowerPoint lecture • Create an item and give it a name

  21. Upload the Zipped Adobe Presenter File • Attach local file: browse for the zip file • Name of Link to File: provide a file name • Special Action: choose “unpackage this file” • Click Submit button

  22. Provide an Entry Point • Entry Point: Index.htm • Launch in new window: Yes • Click Submit and then OK • Now you can view the module in a new window by clicking the link
