  15. Ensure environmental sustainability in Egypt • Even though Egypt has lots of desert, it also has lots of fertile soil that is great for crops • Most land is cropped at least twice a year, but agricultural productivity is limited by salinity, which afflicts an estimation of 35% of cultivated land, and drainage issues • Irrigation is essential as Egypt reclaims desert land for farming and cultivation Photo Credits: https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&authuser=0&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1366&bih=638&q=egypt+poverty&oq=egypt+poverty&gs_l=img.3..0j0i24l6.1832.4986.0.5097.26.12.6.8.9.0.105.723.11j1.12.0....0...1ac.1.35.img..0.26.789.sq1W5fZfKZI#authuser=0&hl=en&q=farm+egypt&tbm=isch&facrc=_&imgdii=_&imgrc=7q9YO3KoTPmJxM%253A%3BeImwZ_LAZspd5M%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fupload.wikimedia.org%252Fwikipedia%252Fcommons%252F1%252F1d%252FYoung_boy_and_girl_harvest_farm_crops_in_Egypt.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fcommons.wikimedia.org%252Fwiki%252FFile%253AYoung_boy_and_girl_harvest_farm_crops_in_Egypt.jpg%3B2101%3B2171

  16. Develop a global partnership for development in MALI • A global fund partnership has set goals to fight aids and malaria in Mali • They will distribute 4.9 million bed nets • More than 30,000 people living with HIV in Mali are receiving antiretroviral treatment with support from the Global Fund and a further 20,000 are getting quality care. 18. Conclusion • Egypt is a more developed country. Evidences have been shown throughout the presentation and can be clearly seen in aspects of education, mortality, economy, etc. • GDP in Egypt is so much higher than that in Mali. Egypt, though still a developing country, has some large business in Cairo and larger cities. • Mali is still up and coming. They are so far behind in many aspects, that it is hard to see how they will be able to become developed and become competitive in the world. • These two countries are hard to compare fairly because they are so different from one another in culture, government, economy, etc. • Currently, Egypt’s government and military has been in disagreement and has just recently been settled. No one knows how long this will last. Because of these disagreements between the government and military, poverty and education have moved to the back burner. Hopefully, leaders can catch the vision of how important it is to educate everyone in their country

  19. Conclusion continued • Mali has been in a rut for years, but is now beginning to search for ways to become more marketable to other nations throughout the world • Egypt still has a long way to go to become a fully developed country. • Egypt needs to work on spreading its wealth and creating opportunities for those in poverty to rise. • As opportunities arise, it will be a legacy for future generations of overcoming poverty and obstacles
