  2. Games & DoD? • The concept of Entertainment and Defense should not look that foreign • Back in 1997 there was a committee that reported on such relationship • A report was produced entitled: ‘Modeling and Simulation: Linking Entertainment and Defense’

  3. Opportunities • The committee was ‘COMMITTEE ON MODELING AND SIMULATION: OPPORTUNITIES FOR COLLABORATION BETWEEN THE DEFENSE AND ENTERTAINMENT RESEARCH COMMUNITIES’ • Among its members were Mike Zyda and the late Randy Pausch.

  4. The Game • It is no surprise that America’s Game was created. • ‘Launched in July 2002 the America's Army game, which is rated "T" for Teen by the ESRB, has become one of the most popular computer games in the world. ’ reads the about info at its website.

  5. What about the players? • ‘In the America's Army game, players are bound by Rules of Engagement (ROE) and grow in experience as they navigate challenges in teamwork-based, multiplayer, force versus force operations. In the game, as in the Army, accomplishing missions requires a team effort and adherence to the seven Army Core Values. Through its emphasis on team play, the game demonstrates these values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and personal courage and makes them integral to success in America's Army.’ taken from the website
