LARC FIRST Clinic Rooms: Supplies Necessary for an IUD Insertion Normal Insertions • GC/CT swabs • Speculums • Examination gloves • Sterile gloves • Antiseptic solution • Betadine • Hibiclens (for iodine allergies) • Lubricating jelly • Sterile tenaculum • Sterile metal sound • Os finder • Plastic sterile sound • Silver nitrate • Monsel's solution (rarely needed) • Sterile drape to place on Mayo tray • Urine Pregnancy Test • Ring forcep • Alligator forcep • Cytobrush • Scopette's (Texas swabs) • Sanitary pad (light) • Cleansing wipes for the patient • Kleenex for patient comfort • Blood pressure cuff • Ammonia salts (in case of syncope) • Emesis basin (in case of vaso-vagal episode) • Cool wet paper towels • Cotton swab • Saline tube for Wet Prep collection • Complicated Insertions • Dialators(Pratt can be used) • Spinal needle for paracervical block 22G 15cm • Lidocaine 1% • 10cc syringe • 18-20G needle
