  2. (3) Living Resources In order to help supporting the elderly’s daily life, the government provides the following schemes: (1) Senior Citizen Card (2) Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (3) Social Security Allowance Scheme (so-called fruit money)

  3. (1) Senior Citizen Card The Senior Citizen Card aims to promote a spirit of respect for the senior citizens. Elderly who are aged over 65 can apply this Card. The holder of this card can have discounts and preferential services on Government departments,public companies and private or commercial organizations.

  4. (2) Comprehensive Social Security Assistance(CSSA) Elderly who have not enough money for supporting their daily life can apply for the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA).

  5. (3) Social Security Allowance Scheme The Social Security Allowance Scheme (or we call “fruit money”) aims to provide non-contributory allowance to the elderly Hong Kong residents aged 65 or above to meet the special need arising from old age. The SSA Scheme for elderly consists of: Normal Old Age Allowance (NOAA) Higher Old Age Allowance (HOAA)

  6. Normal Old Age Allowance (NOAA) The Normal Old Age Allowance is given to elderly who are aged 65 to 69. Each elderly is given $625 each month if their income do not exceed the standard levels.

  7. Higher Old Age Allowance (HOAA) Higher Old Age Allowance is given to elderly aged 70 or above and there is no income limit. Each elderly is given $705 each month.
