  1. ‘He Has The Temperament To Become A Great Player’: Sunil Gavaskar On Shubman Gill He may have played a few matches in the longer format but Shubman Gill has already shown his ability and impressed many, including the legendary Sunil Gavaskar. Gill has made his Test debut during India’s successful Australia tour of 2020-21 when they bounced back to win a four-match Test series 2-1. Since then, he has scored 378 runs including three half-centuries with his skill and temperament as well. 2. However, Gill has opened the batting alongside the veteran opener Rohit Sharma and together they stitched a partnership of 62 runs on Day 2. And, Gill was dismissed for 28 off 64 later where he smashed three fours. Gavaskar also added that the first century is always the toughest to get and once he will crosses that, he will score more in future. “The first hundred is always the toughest one because that journey from scoring a half century to reaching three figures is not that easy," Gavaskar said. 3. He continued, “Batsmen tend to feel settled somewhere around 70-80 run mark and start taking the bowlers on and lose their wicket in that way. He just needs to get his first hundred and then a lot more will follow." On the other hand, Nasser Hussain was also impressed with India openers’ batting, as he said that he ‘can’t remember India has had better openers earlier. “I was just about to tweet that the Indian openers are giving a masterclass on how to bat in England conditions but they both got out. They played beautifully,” Nasser Hussain said during the post-lunch show on Star Sports.
