  1. Aakash Chopra Choses His Best XI Of IPL 2021 Former Indian opener, Aakash Chopra has named his IPL 2021 XI based on the performances which the players put up during the first 29 matches. The tournament was postponed with immediate effect and for an indefinite time period after the second wave of the coronavirus affected the players and support staff. To begin the list, Chopra didn’t include Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The cricketer-turned famous commentator picked up Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul in the opening, the top two highest run-getters in the tournament. Dhawan scored as many as 380 runs in eight matches, whereas Rahul had amassed 331 runs from seven matches. At no. 3, he chose Faf du Plessis, based on his swashbuckling performances whereas for no. 4 and no. 5, the former Delhi player chose Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers. Notably, both of them were in sublime form this season. Aakash Chopra decided to include Rishabh Pant for no. 6 whereas for all-rounders’ slot, he chose Ravindra Jadeja and Chris Morris. Notably, he justified his price tag of ₹16.25 crores by playing some good cricket as well. Explaining that, Chopra said, “At No.7, you can keep Jaddu. His bowling was very good and he batted amazingly well. He played in a bold fashion and run-outs while fielding, four catches in an innings. He knows everything, he has been absolutely brilliant.” He continued, “At No.8, I have got Chris Morris. He continuously did something or the other, either in batting or bowling. On the whole, he kept paying the EMIs of the 16.25 crores for which he was bought.” For the last bowlers’ slots, Chopra selected Rahul Chahar, Avesh Khan, and Harshal Patel, who are 4th, 2nd, and 1st in the list of leading wicket-takers respectively in the now-suspended tournament as well.
