Public Health Agency of Canada | Agence de la santé publique du Canada 3 Objectives To provide an overview of the PHAC Physician Development Program (PPDP), a competence-based development program that aims to address the challenges of physician recruitment and retention, and that is currently in its pilot phase To provide a status update on the PPDP pilot

Public Health Agency of Canada | Agence de la santé publique du Canada 4 In 2010 PHAC began the pilot of the PPDP in an effort to address the shortage of public health physicians at the Agency. MSP = Medical Specialist MOF = Medical Officer of Health MSP and MOF make up the physician streams at PHAC. PPDP is a development program where participants enter the program as Medical Specialist (MSP)- 01 level and graduate at the MSP-02. (Or the MOF 2 to the MOF 3). Graduation from the program is competency based, rooted in the demonstration of abilities and knowledge.
