  2. Table of Contents • Introduction • Goals • Challenges • Work Plan • Design Solution • Walkthrough • Conclusion

  3. Introduction Visual Sound is an interactive sculpture that creates visual music. • Music has strong influence in art and human behavior. • It produces specific emotional states that all people share. • It allows us to communicate our most intimate emotions in unique ways.

  4. Goals My goal is to understand intuitive reactions to sound, by diving into some of the areas such as • Synesthesia • Algorithmic music • Emotions triggered by sound • One’s act or response results of an artistic expression

  5. Challenges • Compositions for different emotional states • Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) technique – study group • Members of the study group - synesthesia, artist, musician, scientist • Similarity/Differences – GSR graphs • Visual language - color/shape survey - study group • Map visual language to graph • Interactive sculpture that reflects above experiments and creates visual sound by moving each parts up and down on y axes

  6. Work Plan

  7. Design Solution

  8. Design Solution Happiness Sadness Excitement Frustration

  9. Walkthrough

  10. Conclusion • Sound, color, and shapes are related • They create different emotional states • Emotional states are responses to stimuli triggered by brain • They form who we are, how we behave, and react
