  3. Where it started… Impressionism originated in France by Georges Seurat.

  4. When it started… It was an movement of the late 1800’s to the early 19th century.

  5. Major Inventions… One of the major inventions that effected impressionism was the camera. It gave the artists the ability to express themselves.

  6. Famous Impressionistic Artists… There were many impressionistic artists from 1875 to 1900.

  7. What is Pointillism? Pointillism started in France as a protest. Occasionally called “Optical Realism”. The artist wanted to show how light on a painting effected the color of the work. It is painting created by small dots of pure colors that become blended in the viewers eye. “The human eye, is a marvelous instrument” –The Impressionist Motto

  8. Who invented Pointillism? It was developed by Georges Seurat in 1886. Seurat was born on December 2, 1859 in Paris, France. In 1875, he began to take drawing lessons form Justin Lequien. He married Madeleine Knoblock. He died of a throat infection.
