  5. History of Sprinkling 251 AD – Novation was sick Sprinkled – promise that if he got better he would be immersed Got well – refused immersion Affusion -Besprinkled - Aspersion 1311 AD – Council of Ravenna

  7. What is Wrong with Sprinkling ? Idea of men Not a doctrine found in the Bible A person who was sprinkled has not really been baptized !!

  8. II. Are We Saved Before Baptism Many religious groups teach that a person is saved, forgiven of sins, before baptism. They deny that baptism has anything to do with the salvation of our soul.

  10. 1. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2. God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

  11. 4. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

  12. 5. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

  24. Requirements for Scriptural Baptism • 1. Right person • Believes in Christ • 2. Right Action • Immersion – burial • 3. Right Purpose • Remission of sins

  25. Rebaptized if... First baptism did not meet the scriptural requirements If you did not understand what you did in being baptized If a question exists, then resolve it.
