  2. ECRP • Responsive-mode funding scheme open to proposals on any topic in a defined discipline • Annual call for proposals • One-stage application process • International peer review • Developed and refined in social sciences since 2001

  3. ECRP • Complementary to EUROCORES • Shorter selection process (no theme competition or outline proposal). • No networking dimension; Small centralised “dissemination and capacity-building” fund.

  4. ECRP • Framework for collaborative research of all scales and scope • Provides opportunities for scientific communities not addressed by EUROCORES themes • Provides opportunities for funding agencies where EUROCORES not optimal
