  2. The United Kingdom Southend-On-Sea is 40 miles or64 kilometresfrom London.

Some Southend-On-Sea Statistics • Approximately 40 miles or 64 kilometres East from London, in the County of Essex. • The largest town in Essex with a population of nearly 200,000. • Located at the mouth of the Thames Estuary, it is the nearest major seaside resort to London. • There are two Railway lines into London. • It has the longest pleasure pier in the World. • 40,000 travel to work outside the town • Most people employed in Finance, Public Sector administration and Leisure and Tourism • Approximately ----% Ethnic minority

  4. The Southend Pier A railway was built on the pier 1890, and in 1897 an extension to the pier head took it to 2,145 meters – a World record.

  5. The Southend Pier The last fire was in 2005. It has had 4 major fires and at least 2 boats have bumped into it causing damage – this was the damaged caused in 1908.
