  1. WHY TO USE TIC IN TEACHING PHYSICS

  2. What is TIC ? T.I.C. (Information and Communication’s Technology ) is a subject taught in Romanian schools where students learn about computer science: how to use a computer, what an operation system is, how to use different programs and applications, etc. It is a well-known fact that it can be very useful while teaching physics and making your students understand better the phenomena they are required to know. But does it really work and how?

  3. Using T.I.C. in teaching physics essentially follows the aims below: the increase in the efficiency of learning activities the development in self studying and communication skills

  4. A. The increase in the efficiency of learning activities

  5. 1)Simulation of physics phenomena and devices’ working principle When it is possible, the phenomena and the devices will firstly be presented in the laboratory or studied by direct observation in nature or in practice. 2)Doing virtual lab experiments • Virtual labs must be considered as alternative or complementary resources in experimental study of some physics phenomena. Using virtual laboratory is recommended in the following situations: • The effective experiment is followed by the virtual experiment, so that it allows the student to control a larger number of factors which influence the experiment just studied. • The existing resources do not allow an effective experiment which is needed for an overall image of the phenomenon. • By doing the experiments in the virtual lab, the students with motion deficiency understanding is facilitated. • When the effective experiments endangers the students’ health.

  6. 3)Processing the experimental results The results obtained by nature observation can be processed according to the proposed aim by using an adequate computer program. This can include doing calculations, calculate errors, graphic representations, etc. In this way, the time accorded for simple calculations can be reduced in favor of some learning activities which imply superior cognitive processes. In the same time, by processing the experimental results on computer, the students will learn to exercise their T.I.C. abilities in diversified learning contexts.

  7. B. the development in self studying and communication skills

  8. 1)Collecting information According to the existing resources, the teachers must stimulate students to appeal to a richer variety of information resources, including Internet, multimedia encyclopedias and electronic format documentation. By doing this, the students will learn how to select and synthesize the acquired information and will develop the capacity of appreciating how correct the information is. 2)Presenting information The teachers must encourage students to present the results of different investigations in electronic format, with attracting style, with bib impact and easy to understand and send through electronic comunication.

  9. 3) Documents’ desktop publishing When it is possible, it can be required to students to write their projects and experiments’ results in electronic format. It is also recommended that the documents’ desktop publishing is done under teacher’s supervision. By doing this, the student is allowed to review, to modify and evaluate his work, thinking over the quality of results alongside his progress.
