  1. Goal Setting A goal is something that you want and are willing to work for.

  2. Setting goals can make things that seem impossible…Possible

  3. There are two types of goals: Long Term: tasks that usually take weeks, months, or even years to accomplish. • Learning how to program computers. • Graduating from college. Short Term: tasks that you can accomplish in a short period of time. • finishing your daily exercise routine • completing your English paper

  4. Interests and Values It is much easier to accomplish a goal when you really care about the goal. Goals should be based on your interests (things you enjoy) and values (what is important to you).

  5. Your Goals and Others Everyone needs help to reach his or her goals. You will need support. You can get encouragement from your parents, teachers, coaches, and friends. Remember to support them in their goals too!

  6. In order to have success, every goal requires an action plan.

  7. Make S.M.A.R.T. Goals

  8. Setbacks Sometimes, you can identify a goal, have an interest in your goal, and have the best action plan ever written. Yet you still do not reach your goal. It happens. It’s called a setback. Setbacks are learning opportunities. You only FAIL if you quit. Keep being persistent. Keep working even when you want to quit. Try another way or ask your support for help and you will succeed.

  9. Be PersistentProgress on your goal may be slow at first, or you may experience a setback, but exercise persistence and you will be encounter success!
