KEY FACTS • There are more than 30 tribal colleges that serve more than 30,000 students who represent more than 250 tribes from across the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. • Most tribal colleges operate on Indian reservations. • Native culture is infused throughout the curriculum. • Tribal colleges promote students' self-esteem and cultural identity. • Most tribal colleges receive no Indian casino revenue.

Also several cousins attended. • Thinking about majoring in Business • Wants to go to Law School • How do you think a tribal college will help you accomplish that? “Because I want to be involved in Indian law in some way, I think that coming from a college where I've been exposed to different tribes will help broaden my outlook about natives and teach me more about the issues involving native americans on reservations.”

  5. Nataska Rouse • Dad attended when it was a Junior College • Majoring in American Indian Studies • Plans to attend Nursing School • “I believe having a AIS degree will benefit me as being a nurse cause I hope to become a nurse at IHS somewhere and I feel it will help.”

  6. Mykel Salazar • First to attend a Tribal College • Majoring in American Indian Studies • Plans to attend Law School • “Since I want to go into Tribal Law, attending a Tribal College will give me the tools and network to get me into and through Law School.”
