  1. J.S. Bach A Legacy of Music, and a Spirit of Passion.

  2. The Man “Hymn”self

  3. Early Life • Born in Eisenach, Saxe-Eisenach, on May 21 1685, Bach was part of a long line of musicians and composers. • His father, recognizing his talent, gave him individualized attention to teach hymn the harpsichord and violin – popular instruments of the time.

  4. Beauty from Tragedy • When Bach was ten years old, both his mother and his father died suddenly. Thus he was forced to move in with his older brother, a phenomenal organist. Bach then began his high caliber study of composition, counterpoint, and instrumentation. • At the age of 14, Bach, along with his older school friend George Erdmann, was awarded a choral scholarship to study at the prestigious St. Michael's School in Lüneburg.

  5. Slow Rise to fame • Following graduation, Bach struggled to pick up speed in his career. He was turned down for many roles as church organist, but eventually found work composing for prominent families. His name grew, his abilities flourished, and Bach’s name became known.

  6. Death of a legend • At 65 years old, J.S Bach, Pioneer of the Baroque period and man of passion, died. As a result of a complicated eye surgery, Bach caught pneumonia and soon passed. • He is missed, but his music lives on……

  7. Legacy of Beauty • Bach composed over seven hundred works still performed widely today. These include concertos, symphonies, solo instrument works, sonatas, and many more types of musical innovation. His work in musical counterpoint was groundbreaking and his work on the topic is still used as a teaching tool today.
