  4. The trick is to SHOW, not TELL. • Example of a paragraph with little imagery. • It was cold outside. The weather was really bad. I couldn’t wait to get inside so I could warm up. • Example of a paragraph with AMAZING imagery. • I heard the wind howl like an arctic wolf as I hurried home as quickly as my legs could move. The frigid air blew quickly across my face. My nose was frozen, and my tongue tingled with the taste of snowflakes forming water that seemed as though it came straight from a glacier. Swirling white tornadoes surrounded me as I approached my doorstep, and my body craved nothing more than the glowing warmth from the fireplace that bellowed smoke above my rooftop, and the comfort of smoldering, hot bowl of my mom’s famous stew. Zzzzz…Boring!
