    2. Who Was He? His nicknames are “Sam” & “Big Drunk.” Sam was born in on March 2, 1793 He died at his home in Huntsville, Texas in July, 1863, of natural causes. He was 93.

    3. What Did He Do? Sam worked at many places: He worked at as a clerk in a store; he was a president, a governor, and a teacher.

    4. Interesting Facts When Sam was about 15years old, he ran away from home. Sam was adopted into a tribe called the Cherokee Indians. Sam’s wife let him go back to Cherokee the tribe.

    5. Why He Was Famous Sam was famous for fighting in the San Jacinto war for Texas freedom.
