It is a chronic condition characterized by a persistent dull or sharp pain in the lower back. It afflicts 80% of the adult population some time or other in their lives. In a questionnaire-based survey conducted in Singapore in 2006, 33% of patients with chronic pain of more than 3 months duration admitted to pain symptoms originating from their back. Less than 10% of these patients will require any invasive treatments and even less will eventually require surgical intervention. Find out how to systematically assess a patient with chronic low back pain and what “Red” or “Yellow” flags need to be identified. Physical therapy will benefit the majority of these patients. A small proportion of these patients will benefit from interventional treatments that address their facetal, discogenic or radicular pain even before surgical procedures are considered. Living with Chronic Low Back Pain We've added years to our patient's lives; How to add life to those years! Organised by: Pain Management Clinic, Tan Tock Seng Hospital (PMC@TTSH)
