  3. Web Based VR

  4. Web Based VR • Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) is an open, extensible, industry-standard scene description language for 3D scenes or worlds on the Internet. • With VRML and certain software tools, you can create and view distributed, interactive 3D worlds that are rich with text, images, animation, sound, music and video. • VRML contains a number of features such as hierarchical transformations, light sources, viewpoints, geometry, animation, fog, material properties, and texture mapping. • VRML plugin is required to view VRML file on the Internet. Dr. Naji Shukri Alzaza

  5. Web Based VR • Example of VRML plugins are Cortona, Cosmoplayer, Fluxplayer and BlaxxunContact. • Unlike HTML, VRML also provides the technology that combines 3D, 2D, text, and multimedia into a logical model. • When these media types are integrated with scripting languages and Internet utilities, an entirely new generation of interactive applications is possible. 7. X3D • X3D provides the technology to enable users to view, modify, customize and reuse 3D visualizations in other applications on the web or on any network device. • X3D provides quick and easy sharing of real-time 3D models, visual effects, behavioral modeling and interaction. • Using X3D, high-quality 2D/3D and video information can be easily incorporated into technical publishing, maintenance manuals, websites, database applications, visual simulations and navigation systems. • X3D allows a user to associate behaviors and dynamic scripts with a 3D object so others can interact with it, like playing a video game. Dr. Naji Shukri Alzaza

  8. X3D • X3D provides an XML (Extensible Markup Language) encoding so that interactive 3D and multimedia content can be read or written using standard XML tools and can be integrated seamlessly into any XML enabled application or web service. • X3D enables users to share live 3D data quickly and easily in a lightweight format. • X3D provides an Interchange format for integrated 3D graphics and multimedia to enable content producers to share 3D, interactivity, and physics between applications. Dr. Naji Shukri Alzaza
